Emerging Leaders - US State Department Community Connections
The US State Department Community Connections Program has ended.
Thank you to all the people involved in the program for helping to make it such a great success in the Boston area!
Community Connections was founded by the US government with the belief that partnership with the former Soviet Union is important to global security and the development of American markets in the next decade. The outcome of Russia’s present transformation to a democratic, market-friendly society will directly impact the future of the global marketplace. It is certain that the countries of the former Soviet Union will be some of our largest new markets and trading partners in the coming decades.
WorldBoston was involved in the US State Department's Community Connections Program from 1999-2005, when the program was phased out. During this period WorldBoston hosted 17 groups, from Odessa, Ukraine, Vinnytsya, Ukraine, Astana, Kazakhstan, Kaliningrad, Russia, St. Petersburg, Russia, Komi Republic, Russia, and the Russian Far East cities of Magadan and Yakutsk. While in Boston, these professionals participated in an educational and professional programs designed for them by Emerging Leaders staff. In addition, they had a full cultural program and lived with homestay families to gain the most from their American experience.
