Live from their kitchen in Barquisimeto, VenezuelaArturo Riera and Yajaira Echeverría will prepare two traditional Venezuelan meals: a classic dinner of arepas rellenas and a breakfast dish, pabellón criollo, along with papelón con limón, a traditional drink.

Arturo Riera visited Boston in the fall of 2018 with the State Department-sponsored program Young Leaders of Americas Initiative (YLAI). In Boston, he was a Fellow at the Community Music Center of Boston. He was also recently featured in our Music Diplomacy event in which he performed traditional Venezuelan music pieces alongside his wife, Yajaira.

Arturo Riera is the founder of Pasitos Sinfónicos, a music academy that offers new ways to learn music for children and families, including music stimulation for pregnant mothers and babies as well as instrument instruction for children. He has a Master’s degree in Education from the Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador, and is currently finishing his Master’s degree in Percussion at Universidad Simón Bolívar.
