Advancing Economic Prosperity: An Open, Reliable, and Secure Digital Economy

A Multi-Regional Project

  • Meet with ICT sector stakeholders, both public and private, to learn about their
    perspectives on the digital economy and its current state;
  • Learn about efforts to advance an open internet while maintaining cybersecurity
  • Learn about tools for combating cybercrime
  • Learn how state laws and regulations affect the digital economy
  • Examine gaps in analysis and develop country-specific action plans to target
    ICT/cybersecurity sector weaknesses

Rule of Law

A Multi-Regional Project

  • Examine the underlying principles of the U.S. judicial and legal systems and their basis in the Constitution and the rule of law
  • Deepen understanding of the federal and state judicial systems for both criminal and civil matters under the U.S. model of federalism
  • Demonstrate the workings of an independent judiciary and promote the advancement of fair, transparent, accessible, and independent judiciaries around the world
  • Observe trials, other court procedures, and court administration at the federal, state, and local levels
  • Study the interaction of the legal system between law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and courts
  • Explore measures to protect victims

Building NGO Networks

A Regional Project for the Near East and North Africa

  • Examine innovative NGO, non-profit, public service, and advocacy organization partnership strategies in the United States
  • Explore the diversity of the non-profit sector in the United States and the dynamic relationships among business, government, and non-governmental organizations
  • Review NGO strategies for strengthening networks, building capacity, using technology and social media, fundraising, and furthering an organization’s mission through partnerships

Addressing the Needs of At-Risk Youth

A Regional Project for the Western Hemisphere

  • Examine primary prevention programs for at-risk youth such as family support programs, after school activities, truancy and dropout prevention programs, and job training programs;
  • Explore early interventions of schools, community-based organizations, and faith-based groups to prevent delinquency and gang involvement among at-risk youth
  • Highlight support services for gang-involved youth and their families that encourage youth to make positive choices
  • Examine re-entry programs for gang members who have been recently released from prison

Disability Rights and Independent Living

A Single Country Project for Georgia

  • Examine federal, state, and local laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Explore public and private sector funding and programs for services and quality of life enhancing programs for persons with disabilities
  • Learn how various governmental and NGO entities, advocacy associations, media outlets, and grassroots organizations influence policy and raise awareness about disability issues
  • Create professional networking opportunities that facilitate long-term dialogue among the visitors and their American counterparts
