TRAFFICKING IN PERSONS (TIP) HEROES REPORT

A Multi-Regional Project

  • Assess mechanisms for reporting data and guiding public discourse on international trafficking in persons, including through investigative journalism, media, and grassroots advocacy
  • Explore initiatives and strategies to recognize, protect, and assist victims of abuse and trafficking, particularly those involved in labor trafficking, including victim recovery and reintegration programs
  • Examine the roles that government, law enforcement, the courts, and local organizations play on the national, state, and local level, in detecting, preventing, and TIP related prosecuting crimes

HUMAN AND CIVIL RIGHTS ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS

A Regional Project for the Middle East and North Africa

COMBATING ILLEGAL FISHING OFF THE COASTS AND IN LAKES OF AFRICA

A Regional Project for Africa

  • Review best practices for law enforcement to deter foreign fishing vessels from engaging in illicit activity
  • Observe best practices in sustainable fisheries management and product traceability (from extraction to commercialization), and address the key role of maritime domain awareness (MDA) and interagency coordination
  • Explore state, local, and federal strategies for addressing IUU fishing
  • Encourage collaboration between government agencies, environment and policy NGOs, think tanks, fisheries-related industry representatives and other relevant U.S. stakeholders to deter IUU fishing in exclusive economic zones (EEZ)
  • Facilitate conversation and collaboration on the successful creation and implementation of enforcement frameworks, agendas, roadmaps, and/or joint programs particularly as they relate to overlapping and/or disputed territorial claims

APPROACHES TO CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGES

A Project for Saudi Arabia

  • Assess the status of current policy framework of national and international environmental laws, protections, and conservation efforts to address climate change and associated impacts
  • Discuss strategies for reducing carbon emissions in four major areas: power generation; transportation; building and construction; manufacturing
  • Observe integrated approaches at local, state, and national levels for developing climate resilience, maintaining biodiversity, and supporting vulnerable populations
  • Engage with community leaders and advocates working to combat climate change at the local, state, and national levels

NGO MANAGEMENT

A Project for Belarus

  • Examine innovative NGO, non-profit, public service, and advocacy organization management strategies in the United States
  • Explore the diversity of the non-profit sector in the United States and the dynamic relationships among business, government, and non-governmental organizations
  • Review NGO strategies for strengthening leadership, engaging volunteers, using technology and social media, fundraising, and furthering the organization’s mission

U.S. BEST PRACTICES IN DIGITAL ECONOMY AND GOVERNANCE

A Project for Indonesia

  • Examine U.S. best practices in digital governance: regulating, monitoring, and implementing the digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises
  • Explore ways to safely improve SME ability to promote themselves and improve business processes, especially in post-COVID-19 economic recovery
  • Identify key areas for digital transformation and methods to ensure inclusivity
  • Strengthen U.S.-Indonesia networks for digital leadership and transformation
  • Explore data security, citizen privacy, anti-fraud measures, cross-border transfer of information, and online consumer protection in e-commerce

CYBER POLICY AND INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION FOR COUNTERING TRANSNATIONAL THREATS IN A DIGITAL WORLD

A Project for Uzbekistan

  • Examine the U.S. Government’s efforts to manage cybersecurity risk, assess threats to critical infrastructure, and its efforts to secure an open, interoperable, secure, and reliable cyberspace
  • Explore cyber education, research, and development efforts and protections for privacy rights and civil liberties
  • Evaluate the role of the private sector in promoting cybersecurity, including public-private information sharing and data protection
  • Explore economic and national security impacts of malevolent cyber activity
  • Discuss strategies to collaborate and counter cyber threats

DISABILITY RIGHTS – EQUAL ACCESS FOR ALL

A Regional Project for the Near East and North Africa

  • Examine federal, state, and local laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Explore public and private sector funding for services and quality of life enhancing programs for persons with disabilities
  • Learn how various governmental and NGO entities, advocacy associations, media outlets, and grassroots organizations influence policy and raise awareness about disability issues
  • Create professional networking opportunities that facilitate long-term dialogue among the visitors and their American counterparts

MANAGING FOREIGN AID AND FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT

A Multi-Regional Project

  • Review U.S. foreign policy and objectives in the international economic system, including stimulating growth and employment
  • Examine international economic cooperation in the context of the growth, support, and integration of emerging markets into the world economy
  • Learn how donors and recipients can best assess the variety of funding options for current and future needs while rendering the funding decision process more transparent and effective
  • Explore the variety of funding mechanisms available for national and local economic development with a focus on the nexus of business opportunities and development priorities
  • Examine current federal, state, and local initiatives in international trade and export promotion, and innovative strategies for regional economic development and competitiveness in the global marketplace
