Hidden No More: Empowering Women Leaders in STEM

A Multi-Regional Project

  • Review the evolution and advancement of women in scientific research and innovation in the United States
  • Explore policies of organizations and educational institutions that champion the interest of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)
  • Gain insight into the critical need for women’s involvement in the design, engineering, and implementation of scientific research, applications, solutions, and technology, including hardware and closed and open source software
  • Provide opportunities for participants to network with professional counterparts at scientific academies, associations, universities, businesses, and agencies across the U.S.
  • Examine public/private partnerships designed to accelerate student learning in STEM subjects, especially for girls from diverse backgrounds

Strengthening Partnerships and Developing Critical Technology in Support of AUKUS

An Inter-Regional Project

  • Review the development of quantum technologies, advanced cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence and autonomy
  • Examine best practices for advancing submarine infrastructure development, including education, health, housing, and economic investment in submarine communities
  • Provide exchange and networking opportunities for academic and research professionals to promote innovation in the critical technologies industry
  • Explore public-private partnerships, with an emphasis on technology transfer and workforce development opportunities within the shipbuilding industrial complex
  • Develop strategies fostering youth engagement in STEM, specifically in maritime technology

US Foreign Policy – Global Challenges

A Regional Project for Eurasia

  • Discuss foreign policy issues of concern to Europe and the United States, including counterterrorism and security, transatlantic relations, the changing roles of international organizations such as NATO and the United Nations, the war against Ukraine, trans-boundary environmental policy issues, and global trade trends which frame positions in U.S. foreign policy
  • Expose participants to the various players in U.S. foreign policy formulation and to a range of policy views in the public and private sectors

Social Media for Cultural Understanding and Positive Social Change

A Single Country Project for Egypt

  • Examine First Amendment principles and the delicate balance in protecting free speech on social media
  • Illustrate how social media has transformed the way in which communities communicate, create, and engage
  • Observe the operations of digital media companies, their strategies and techniques and best practices for digital engagement
  • Explore how non-profits, advocacy organizations, and government agencies work with the digital content industry

Entrepreneurship Training and Skills Building

A Single Country Project for India

  • Discuss societal and economic barriers facing women in business and best practices in overcoming these restrictions
  • Observe the effectiveness of new startups, innovator hubs, and incubators in creating jobs, access to capital and leadership development
  • Engage with private companies, financial institutions, universities, nongovernmental organizations to discuss mentorship and career development programs
  • Examine trends in leadership training, public-private partnerships, social entrepreneurship, corporate initiatives, and other mechanisms through which women are empowered and encouraged promote and effect social change
  • Gain an understanding of the contributions of women to the social and economic advancement of communities and society at large through their leadership in gender, youth, family, and broader social issues

Developing Arabic Language Media in Israel

A Single Country Project for Israel

  • Gain an understanding of the evolution, current status, and trends in journalistic investigations and research in the United States
  • Assess the impact of social media, citizen journalism, and alternative forms of reporting within the context of providing factual, accurate, and verifiable information
  • Examine efforts by communities and experts to fact check news to ensure accuracy in news reporting

Emerging Archive Technologies to Safeguard Cultural Heritage

A Single Country Project for Pakistan

  • Examine technological trends and innovations in the area of cultural heritage protection
  • Understand how digitization is changing archives and document collection
  • Explore the use of virtual exhibitions to highlight and share critical elements of cultural heritage to a broader audience
  • Provide opportunities to create new partnerships with U.S. museums and cultural institutions
  • Identify innovative models for community engagement, educational programming, and outreach

Social Media as a Tool for Building Information Resilience

A Single Country Project for Pakistan

  • Examine the rights and responsibilities of free press in a democracy and the principles and laws governing the press in the United States
  • Observe the operations of digital media companies and those creating industry-advancing technology
  • Explore how non-profits, advocacy organizations, and government agencies work with the digital content industry
  • Discuss how social media and new technologies can be used to amplify messages, disseminate information, counter disinformation, and connect with target audiences
  • Consider ways to foster a discerning audience of media consumers
  • Focus on approaches to build trust between the media, government and citizens
