ACADEMIC WRITING IN HIGHER EDUCATION

A Project for Bangladesh

  • Observe how academic writing centers have been set-up and are managed
  • Learn about the role, function, and impact that academic writing centers can have at an institutional level
  • Observe methods for preparing foreign language researchers, academics, teachers, and students to submit articles to international journals in English
  • Study U.S. academic writing center standards
  • Understand how U.S. universities judge English language writing capability of applicants

YOUTH AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: PROMOTING CIVIL SOCIETY AND RESPECT FOR THE RULE OF LAW

A Project for Burkina Faso

  • Examine leadership strategies and communication skills used to manage political and social challenges while balancing divergent social demands and interests
  • Explore advocacy strategies that facilitate social advocacy and justice
  • Discuss how public-private partnerships foster political and civic engagement
  • Review political, social, and economic policy formulation and the various players who influence the decision-making processes

ENERGY EFFICIENCY – TRANSFERRING U.S. BEST PRACTICES AND BUILDING COLLABORATION

A Project for Switzerland

  • Review U.S. political trends and approaches to regulatory issues including framework development and market design 
  • Explore how the U.S. uses incentives to increase investment in the production of clean energy such as photovoltaics; advance energy efficiency; and support homeowners investing in clean energy and energy efficient systems 
  • Examine American incentives to invest in infrastructure, in particular e-mobility and e fleets
  • Assess digital developments in the U.S. energy market including the development of new  digital business models and platforms
  • Evaluate digitalization efforts in the areas of big data and APIs (application programming  interfaces), virtual storage, machine learning, block chain applications and cybersecurity 
  • Analyze technological innovations in the development of clean energy and powerful  energy storage, as well as the production of green hydrogen

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR MID-LEVEL MINISTERIAL STAFF: LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

A Project for Tajikistan 

  • Learn how government regulations, policies, and protocols are implemented in different government structures
  • Learn about governmental and NGO management techniques for the social sector and foreign assistance domains
  • Learn how donor programs are governed and operationalized
  • Learn how to develop beneficial public-private partnerships

PROMOTING GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF U.S. STRATEGY FOR A FREE AND OPEN INDO-PACIFIC AND U.S. POLICY TOWARD CHINA

A Project for Korea

  • Examine the U.S. strategy for a free and open Indo-Pacific and convey the U.S. government’s deep commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region
  • Discuss the U.S. government’s approach toward an emerging China and commitment to pursuing a results-oriented, constructive bilateral relationship with Beijing
  • Explore the views and practices of non-government U.S. institutions (e.g., universities, think tanks, etc.) that focus on regional security and China affairs
  • Encourage productive and open discussions on concerns around Chinese economic policies and practices, and U.S. perspectives on China trade issues
  • Enhance linkages between the U.S. and South Korean intellectual communities concerning China and security in the Indo-Pacific region
