Women Leaders – Promoting Peace and Security
A Regional Project for the Near East and North Africa
Examine the current and historical roles of women in political transitions, post-conflict reconstruction, humanitarian emergencies, conflict prevention, and peacemaking efforts.
Assess the impact of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (UNSCR 1325), which reaffirmed the important role of women in peace and security, and explore inter-agency coordination to implement the resolution.
Compare conflict transformation, resolution, and mediation techniques and their situational benefits and challenges.
Demonstrate the role of women in civil society, government, business, politics, and education in promoting community stability, security, and well-being.
Illustrate how women leaders mentor the next generation of female leaders in various specialties/areas of expertise in service to their communities.

Cooperation in Marine Scientific Research (MSR)
A Sub-Regional Project for East Asia
Build relationships between U.S. and Pacific Island Country officials and scientists responsible for MSR.
Discuss U.S. Government interagency processes and Pacific Ocean research priorities.
Exchange best practices in MSR methods and the consent process.
Explore the relationship between indigenous knowledge and science in the U.S.
Encourage scientific collaboration across the Blue Pacific.
Increasing Access to Credit and Financial Services for Underserved Communities
A Project for Pakistan
Study advocacy efforts for policy/legislative change in support of greater access to credit and financial services for the underserved.
Examine banking alternatives and learn of federal and state regulations, incentives, and programs to promote expansion of access to credit and financial services.
Visit underserved communities in urban and rural areas to see how alternatives to traditional banks have filled gaps in providing local financial services, credit, and even insurance.
Visit examples of how cooperatives, trusts, mutual aid societies, and networks have helped individual and small businesses, farmers, and investors consolidate efforts to take on mid- to-large scale projects for mutual benefit.

Examine examples of entrepreneurial efforts in the United States, particularly those initiated or managed by women.
Explore the essential role of non-governmental and grassroots organizations in supporting and empowering the development of women-owned businesses.
Explore the social, economic, and political factors that influence and encourage the development of private enterprise in the United States.
Examine strategies for job creation.
Discuss societal barriers facing entrepreneurs, especially women and other disadvantaged groups, and best practices in overcoming these restrictions.
Explore various business models, support mechanisms, and innovations that bolster businesses such as micro-lending, multi-level marketing, use of the internet, and mentoring programs.

Examine the underlying principles of the U.S. judicial and legal systems and their basis in the Constitution and the rule of law.

Honoring 75 Years of U.S.-Indonesia Relations
A Project for Indonesia
Highlight the political, social, and economic partnership (CSP) between the U.S. and Indonesia.
Showcase our shared ethnic and religious diversity.
Provide an overview of our shared democratic values, the federalist system of government, and U.S. foreign policy.
Provide information on what goes into creating U.S. foreign policy in the region, including the various roles of different U.S. government agencies in foreign policy formulation and implementation so young Indonesian better understand the limitations and contours of our policies and different interagency roles.
Communicate U.S. perspectives on regional trends, issues, and challenges within the context of the U.S. National Security Strategy and U.S.-Indo-Pacific Strategy and open a dialogue for perspectives from Indonesia.
Introduce participants to U.S. academic institutions, youth movements, and innovators.
