Honoring Justice Robert J. Cordy!
WorldBoston presents the International Citizen Award to members of the Boston area community who by their outstanding example highlight the value of international engagement and global cooperation. After 2017, this award was renamed the James D. Kaufman International Citizen Award in honor of the 20th recipient.
The recipient of 2019’s 21st James D. Kaufman International Citizen Award is Justice Robert J. Cordy (ret.). Justice Cordy has been deeply involved in promoting international engagement and global cooperation here in Boston and around the world. Through his 16 years of service as Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Judicial Court and beyond, Justice Cordy has worked with judges from various countries on issues relating to judicial ethics and rule of law principles. Greater Boston has significantly benefited from the informed perspective on global affairs and devotion to bridge-building of this true international citizen. Specifically, WorldBoston has benefited from Justice Cordy’s commitment to global citizenship as he has hosted hundreds of professional visitors through the International Visitor Leadership Program as well as hosting Chat & Chowder at his law firm McDermott Will & Emery. Whether he is giving a tour of the historic John Adams Courthouse to international visitors or participating in Global Engagement events, Justice Cordy always shows up with a smile on his face, ready to engage with everyone he meets. Thank you Justice Cordy for being a such a wonderful friend to WorldBoston and leader in our community!
The ceremony will be held immediately prior to the 10th Annual Consuls Reception, as an opportunity for the community to recognize Justice Cordy’s exceptional contributions to international citizenship. Tickets to the award ceremony will include admission to the Consuls Reception, and award sponsorships and congratulations will be recognized in a combined dual-event program book. Friends, colleagues, and supporters of WorldBoston are warmly encouraged to participate!
