January at WorldBoston

Dear Friends,

Happy new year!  We can't wait to engage with you on key topics and in vital exchange this year.  We have a ton of events in the coming weeks, so read on (and watch your email, as our website is temporarily down).

  • February 1, H.E. Elin Suleymanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan, on, "Azerbaijan at the Strategic Crossroads of Eurasia" at joint dinner with the Boston Committee on Foreign Relations - register here

Looking ahead, save the date for February 26, Chat & Chowder with Adm. James Stavridis on his new book, Sea Power; and February 27, a WorldBoston special event, "The State of the State Department" featuring Ambs. Nick Burns and Barbara Stephenson.

Citizen Diplomacy

This week features an unusual reverse exchange for members of the WorldBoston community.  Following our December delegation from Manchester, UK on "Community Leadership in Preventing Violence" several Boston counterparts traveled to Manchester this week, including officials from the Boston Police Department, the City of Boston, and Northeastern University.

Early next month, we head to Washington D.C. for the annual meeting of our citizen diplomacy national affiliate, Global Ties U.S.  Congrats to our Jenna Bergquist on her GTUS Emerging Leader scholarship to participate.

Update from the Office

Welcome to new Northeastern University coops Zoe Bowers and Sabrina Schick.

This month we start a big project: implementing a database in order to continue to improve operations and stay in better touch with you.

We hope to see you soon.
